About
Music is Medicine (MiM) will be a music-enrichment initiative that supports Indigenous youth resilience by nurturing music skills, song circles, mentorship, and community showcases.
MiM is open to Indigenous youth ages 15–22 who are interested in developing their ability to sing and accompany themselves while playing a string or jam-style instrument

Participation
Participants may take part in:
Music lessons and jam sessions
Song circles
Mentorship with musicians and peers
Community showcases
Opportunities to build music skills, confidence, and creative expression
MiM also includes support for music-related participation, such as instruments, lessons, music appreciation activities, and travel connected to program activities.
MiM is for Indigenous youth ages 15–22 who are interested in music, singing, and learning to play with others. Participants do not need to be advanced musicians. The program is intended to support youth who want to grow their musical skills, confidence, and connection through mentorship and shared music-making.
Music is Medicine is part of a University of Calgary research study: Music is Medicine: Cultivating Resilience and Well-Being Through Indigenous Music Mentorship
The study looks at how music engagement and mentorship may support Indigenous youth well-being and resilience.
Participation in research activities is voluntary. More information about the research components will be shared before youth and families decide whether to participate.
